On Thursday, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp announced that automotive parts manufacturer Ecoplastic Corporation will create 456 jobs and invest about $200 million in a new manufacturing facility.

Ecoplastic Corporation, founded in 1984, is a Korea-based company that manufactures plastic automobile parts for original equipment manufacturers and other suppliers. The company is a Tier-1 supplier for Hyundai Motor Group and Kia and specializes in the manufacturing of automotive interior and exterior plastic parts, including bumpers, consoles, trims and plastic molds.

"We're proud to welcome Ecoplastic to our growing ecosystem of manufacturers, logistics professionals, suppliers, and more, building on the record-breaking jobs and investments that are on their way to the Peach State," said Gov. Kemp. "This great company will be able to serve the Hyundai Metaplant well from Statesboro, where it will find a welcoming community of hardworking Georgians and close proximity to our ports system."

The company's facility will be located at 4822 Highway 301 South Register near Statesboro. The plant, capable of injection molding and painting, will produce exterior parts, bumpers and garnishes, interior parts, consoles and trims for electric vehicles.

"Ecoplastic is another of the of the large Hyundai suppliers that are located in the region, obviously here to serve the Hyundai meta plant in Bryan County," said Benjy Thompson, CEO of the Development Authority of Bulloch County.

Thompson said the development authority is excited to finish negotiations surrounding the Ecoplastic Corporation project.

"This is the second Hyundai supplier that is located in Bulloch County so, combined, we’ll have a little over 1,000 jobs tied up in Hyundai suppliers," he said. "And hundreds of millions of dollars of capital investment. So, as you can imagine, that will be pretty significant here in Statesboro, Bulloch County."

Earlier this week at the Savannah Economic Development Authority meeting, CEO of Hyundai Motor America Randy Parker made remarks about the progress of the Hyundai plant.

"This facility is a $5.5 billion investment in new EV and battery manufacturer that will create more than 8,100 local jobs," he said.

The company expects to begin operations by October 2024 and will be hiring for HR, finance, parts development, quality control, facility maintenance, injection and paint production positions.
