Hyundai supplier Ecoplastic invests $205M in new Georgia facility

Automotive parts manufacturer Ecoplastic Corp. is investing $205 million in two new manufacturing facility near Register, Ga.

The investment in Bulloch County will create 456 new jobs in the area, a Jan. 5 news release said, and is expected to begin operations — including injection molding and painting of exterior parts, bumpers, garnishes, interior parts, consoles and trims for electric vehicles.

The new facilities include two plant sites, each about 370,000 square feet. The first plant is expected to be complete by 2024, and the second plant will be built by the end of 2026, Ecoplastics told Plastics News in an email.

The Gyeongju, South Korea-based company will hire for human resources, finance, parts development, quality control, facility maintenance, injection molding and paint production positions.

"By increasing new jobs within the area and providing a stable supply of high quality products to our client [Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America], we look forward to contributing to the economic development of the State of Georgia," Shang Han, president and CEO of Ecoplastic, said in the release. "Ecoplastic will do our best to preserve a continuous and mutually beneficial relationship."

Ecoplastic did not respond to multiple requests for comment by Plastics News.

South Korea-based Ecoplastic Corp. manufactures plastic automobile parts for OEMs like Kia and Hyundai Motor Group and other suppliers.
